Showcasing the Human Pangenome Reference Consortium’s breakthroughs

In conjunction with the National Human Genome Research Institute, Washington University’s Human Pangenome Reference Center is charged with providing the infrastructure necessary to coordinate the large-scale studies on the High Quality Reference Genome.

Pain points

Some medical studies focus on limited ethnic groups, neglecting research on broader demographic populations. As a result, the websites that inform stakeholders and related constituencies are often absent of images and content that showcase a diverse array of individuals.

The Human Pangenome Reference Consortium sought to address the racial and ethnic biases specifically in genomic resources.

With this in mind, and with a small budget, the program partnered with Integrity’s St. Louis WordPress web design team  to build a neatly organized website that showcased diversity, inclusion and in-depth scientific information in an easy-to-follow structure.

In the end, Integrity created a beautiful, content manageable WordPress website to serve this organization’s important work. Integrity was responsible for the design, development, content structure and graphics for the new site.

The project was a success as a result of:

  • Creating a homepage hero area that utilized a looping video inspired by an artist's print that showcased diversity without potentially neglecting other groups
  • Maximizing the budget by utilizing a page builder to limit development hours
  • Leveraging client resources to complete specific tasks, such as copywriting and content entry
