Enterprise WordPress development projects are successful when everyone involved keeps a razor-sharp focus on the larger outcome they're trying to achieve.

For Great Rivers Greenway, that outcome was to own livability and promote the outdoors in the St. Louis region.

As the creator and steward of a 100-plus-mile network of gorgeous outdoor spaces, Great Rivers Greenway needed a digital space that was just as beautiful and fun to explore. Their previous website was far too boring and, as a result, reinforced a common stereotype that there's nothing fun to do outside.

The site also had to do a better job of showing how all of the greenways connected to further the organization's mission of unifying the St. Louis region.

Finally, the new site needed to be optimized for smartphones and tablets. An organization devoted to getting people outside and moving should have a site that's equally agile.

Integrity and the Great Rivers Greenway team started by asking the big question: How do we get people excited about the outdoors in St. Louis?

We decided to treat the greenway network as an endless series of experiences that visitors could make their own. Think Disney World, but in your own backyard!

We developed a robust greenway and event search that enables visitors to plan their next outing based on what they want to do, amenities, surroundings, who they're bringing and more. It's the first thing you see when you land on the site, and rightfully so. Want to bike on a trail with lots of wildlife? Looking for an event that's both artsy and pet-friendly? You can search for all that and more. Users can also find greenways by using the custom Google Maps WordPress integration, or by choosing from a list.

The restructured greenway profile pages tell a detailed but logical story of each space and feature such information as activities, directions, trail conditions and other greenways nearby. The pages are all content manageable in WordPress, so adding and editing the greenways is a breeze.

Completing the user experience is a bright new visual design with an updated color palette and large, stunning photos.

"Great Rivers Greenway is the authority on finding awesome stuff to do outdoors in St. Louis," Integrity Founder and CEO John Simanowitz said. "We're honored to be part of their mission to create a more active and connected region."
